On November, 15, 2016, father Aleksey Popkov, his wife Olga, and Aleksey Kulikov attended the meeting of Greek priests and their parish at the Greek Orthodox church of St. Andrew. At first, there was an evening service with the reading of the Canon of the Mother of God. It is worth mentioning that the prayers were read in three languages (Greek, English and Russian) so that all those who attended the service understood it.
After evening prayers everyone gathered at the hall for the discussion. The topic of the meeting this time was “The Divine liturgy and its symbolism” Father Meletiy explained the meaning of offertory, the preface of the liturgy, and offered to discuss it in the form of a question-and-answer session in smaller groups. All the audience was divided into three groups and continued the meeting in that format. After a while the groups rejoined for the common discussion.
The atmosphere of the meeting was warm and friendly. The priests were happy to answer the parishioners’ questions and illustrated their explanations with interesting stories from their practice.
After the meeting f. Aleksey Popkov has a conversation with metropolitan Amphilochios and got his admission for holding services in remote Greek Orthodox churches in Old Church Slavonic language.
